Why Pilates?

Pilates aims to stabilise, strengthen, mobilise and lengthen. It is low impact exercise designed to target smaller muscle groups that are often neglected in training. By strengthening these smaller muscles alongside larger muscle groups, you will feel improvements in core strength and greater stability of joints. Pilates also works to release tight muscles that may have a negative impact on posture, working to lengthen muscles and improve mobility. This makes Pilates functional and when done consistently, can positively impact your day-to-day life.

Pilates marries body and mind through concentration and breathing, allowing for escapism and space to unwind and de-stress.

I have trained in Modern Pilates. This is a contemporary clinical approach to Pilates that is designed in conjunction with physiotherapists to deliver adaptable mat-based exercise for all ages and abilities. My aim is to provide personalised teaching to encourage, motivate and support you in reaching your goals.

As a teacher I can adapt classes to suit your needs and target areas such as improving posture and flexibility, strengthening your core and pelvic floor, or providing rehabilitation following injury. The Modern Pilates method will suit absolute beginners or challenge those looking for another dimension to their training regime.
